I Dreamed of Africa

You could book an extended getaway to the savannahs of Kenya to see prides of lion, and herds of zebra, antelope, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, cheetah and hyena. Or you could curl up at your favorite coffeehouse with a copy of "Out of Africa" to be among the wild beast. Either way, you'll want to dress with style.

This spring, the safari trend made a comeback with its natural khakis and sleek silhouettes meant to protect from the elements. While these picks don't necessarily make the jaunt to the Dark Continent, they will put you in an African state of mind.

Start with a shirtdress in khaki, one the likes of which Karen Blixen may have donned in 1920s colonial Kenya. This version from Diane von Furstenberg cinches nicely at the waist and is adorned with wooden buttons to keep with the theme.

Add shoes in a neutral color to stay within your element. These cork sling backs from Christian Louboutin have a hint of gold on them for glamour.

Cap off the entire look with wooden jewelry. A cuff, such as this version from Sparkle, and necklace, from Banana Republic, give your personality a moment to shine.

Wear just one of these pieces or put them together to attract your own Denys Finch Hatton.
