Pledging Allegiance to Curves

This outfit makes us want to put our hand over our heart and croon "America the Beautiful." Why? Because America Ferrera just gets it. She chooses her outfits, and accessorizes them, with the utmost consideration for flattery.

We suspect it has something to do with the fact her body won't be mistaken for a wire hanger anytime soon. Ferrera has probably shed, in pounds, an entire Rachel Zoe since her "Real Women Have Curves" debut. Although she has the body most women would sacrifice "Oprah" tickets for, her peers' featherweight status makes her a heavyweight by Hollywood standards. We don't understand, either.

Still, the unfortunate and unfair label causes this Latina actress' stylist to work overtime to prove critics wrong. This casual look is just one example of her valiant efforts. Let's start with the obvious: the chic, strapless jumpsuit. Not only is it perfectly on-trend for spring, but every feature of this one-piece garment tips a cordial hat to Ferrera's figure.

Whereas most women with a well-endowed bust shy away from open necklines out of fear they'll spill more than the beans, a sweetheart neckline actually does the opposite. You get more support and the dip, as opposed to a straight line, camouflages the volume.

We normally wouldn't recommend pleated pockets when the goal is to slim the silhouette, but the green, snakeskin belt is the saving grace here. You might see photos of Ferrera on the red carpet and wonder when her penchant for belts developed. It's not the belt she's so fond of, it's the tiny waistline it creates. Add the billow created by the pleated pockets and you have an official hourglass.

Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Beyonce -- also known for being voluptuous -- have a tendency to play up the curves, too. If you have a decent waist, it's a surefire way to separate the girls from the women.

A pair of peep-toe pumps finish the look. We like this choice for keeping our attention up top. A flashier option would have worked fine if it were an evening event, but for a casual look the classic footwear works just fine.

Take a look at how you can copy Ferrera's look. Since this jumpsuit screams for accessories, we give you a way to completely transform the look, too.
