The Chancel Choir of First Presbyterian Church of Las Vegas and the Desert Chorale will present Gabriel Faure’s “Requiem” at 3 p.m. Sept. 11 in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The church is at 1515 W. Charleston Blvd. A freewill offering will be accepted (384-4554).

R-Jeneration: Teens share interest in religion, make friends through youth groups

It’s 7 p.m. Monday. The retirement home is silent. As you walk through the halls determining whether you entered the wrong building, you see a room filled with a group of teens seated in a circle of chairs facing inward. It’s a room full of strangers to you. As you walk in and brave the awkwardness of being the new kid, you take a seat. It’s like the first day of high school all over again.

Religion Notes

King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery will sponsor Kever Avot v’lmahot memorial services in conjunction with the Board of Rabbis of Southern Nevada on Sept 12. Rabbis and cantors from Southern Nevada synagogues will conduct the services at the following times and locations: 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 Las Vegas Blvd. North; 1 p.m. at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane; and 1 p.m. at Palm Mortuary and Memorial Park — Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Attendees will receive stones to place on their loved ones’ graves and a free yahrzeit candle to take home. In the spirit of the High Holy Days and tzedakah, attendees are asked to bring a donation of canned or dry food items for the food pantry at the Jewish Family Service Agency of Las Vegas (464-8570).
