Fishing Report, Oct. 11

■ LAKE MEAD - It was a busy weekend at the lake. There were tournaments out of Callville Bay as well as CAST (Catch A Special Thrill), an event for disabled and disadvantaged children, with an abundance of fish being caught by all. With the cooler water, bigger stripers are coming in. The best time to make a trip out is from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Anglers are getting mostly top-water action using AC Plugs and spinners.

■ LAKE MOHAVE - Fishing for catfish has been active out of Cottonwood Cove. One lucky angler caught a 7½-pound catfish while using anchovies.  At Willow Beach, stripers still are hitting strong, with many weighing more than 10 pounds. AC Plugs are the lure of choice. Trout fishing keeps getting better as the weather cools. Anglers report success using Powerbait, spinners and little jakes.

■ URBAN PONDS - Channel catfish continue to be caught using a variety of baits, including mealworms and stink baits, while panfish action has started to slow.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA - Cooling temperatures have improved rainbow trout success using Powerbait and small spinning lures. Roads remain in good condition, but mosquitoes in some areas continue to be a problem.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR - Fishing has been productive for rainbow and tiger trout, with most anglers finding the best success with pink and orange sparkle Powerbait. The fish have been in the 10- to 13-inch range, with a few larger fish being seen.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR - Rainbow trout action has taken off, with most fish being taken using Powerbait or night crawlers.
