UNLV, CSN to get $800,000 for student services

The U.S. Department of Education plans to award $800,000 in grants to boost student services at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and at the College of Southern Nevada.

Most of the money — 69 percent — will go to UNLV, according to a prepared statement released Wednesday by the office of U.S. Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev. The state‘s two biggest colleges will get the funding for programs whose goals include helping students achieve financial literacy, good study habits and time management skills.

One of the grants will allocate $220,000 specifically to UNLV‘s program benefiting students in the fields of science, technology, education and math (STEM).
