1 in custody after barricade situation, shooting

A man was killed and another critically wounded after an early Thursday morning shooting at an apartment complex near Decatur Boulevard and Vegas Drive, Las Vegas police said.

At about 5:30 a.m. police responded to the shooting scene in the 4600 block of Vegas Drive, where one man was pronounced dead. Another was taken to University Medical Center in “very critical condition,” police said.

Hours later a 30-year-old man, who police refused to identify, was arrested following a standoff with a SWAT team in the 1700 block of Yellow Rose Street, also near Decatur and Vegas Drive. The man is believed to be the shooter in the case, police said.
