One person was displaced after an apartment fire in downtown Las Vegas early Thursday morning, the Las Vegas Fire Department said.
Mulitple 911 calls came in around 6:30 a.m. about the fire at the Hidden Village Apartments, 1825 Lewis Ave., near North Bruce Street and East Charleston Boulevard, Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
Upon arrival, crews saw heavy flames and smoke coming from the upstairs unit. The fire started in the unit’s living room; no one was home.
“We are not sure if anyone lives in the unit,” Szymanski said.
Several tenants of the apartment complex tried to use fire extinguishers to put out the fire, however they couldn’t get close enough, he said.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire in 10 minutes, Szymanski said. There were no injuries. The man in the unit beneath the fire was displaced because of water damage.
The fire, which caused $35,000 in damages, is under investigation.
