16-year-old boy slain in central valley shooting, coroner says
A 16-year-old boy was slain Monday night in a shooting at a central valley apartment complex, according to the Clark County coroner's office.
He was Tiyvone Taylor Mills, the coroner's staff said Wednesday. He died from a gunshot wound to the back.
Police initially reported a man had been killed.
It happened about 9:30 p.m. at the Portofino Villas Apartment Homes, in the 6300 block of Lake Mead Boulevard, near Torrey Pines Road.
Two people were fighting before the shooting happened, police said. Mills was later found laying in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Two people were seen running from the parking lot after the shots were fired.
Police said the shooter is a a young black man between the ages of 16 and 20. He has a thin build and wore a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and white and black shoes.
