Applications open for vacated Las Vegas Justice Court seat
Lawyers can apply for a recently vacated seat on the Las Vegas Township Justice Court, Clark County announced Tuesday.
The chosen applicant will take the place of William Kephart, who was elected district court judge in the Nov. 4 election.
Qualifications include having been an attorney for at least five years and other criteria outlined in Nevada Revised Statute 4.010, a county press release said.
Those interested can apply online at www.clarkcountynv.gov or in person at the county’s manager office on the 6th floor of the County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. Applications due by 5 p.m. on Dec. 15.
An eight-member committee, fronted by Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Gibbons, will review applications and make recommendations to Clark County county commissioners, who will then appoint a judge to serve until January 2017.
