Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run late Thursday night

A 67-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a car that did not stop late Thursday night in the east valley, according to Las Vegas police.

The collision happened about 11:40 p.m. near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Mojave Road. The man was riding a specialized Hard Rock GX Mountain Bike eastbound on Charleston when he was hit by a car behind him, forcing him to the ground, police said. He died there.

Parts of the car, a dark green 1999 Honda Civic DX 4-door, were found near the bike, police said, but the driver took off.

This is Metro’s 47th traffic-related fatality for 2015.
