California homicide suspect arrested in Las Vegas
A California homicide suspect was arrested Thursday afternoon in Las Vegas, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s SWAT unit and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Jovan Meeks, 21, a fugitive wanted in California by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office. A warrant was issued charing Meeks with an April 16 homicide, the marshals service said in a release.
U.S. Marshals developed information that Meeks fled to Las Vegas, and he was arrested near Carey Avenue and Nellis Boulevard. Meeks was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, pending his extradition to California.
“This is yet another example of how our joint agency efforts are apprehending fugitives who think they can hide in the valley,” stated U.S. Marshal Christopher Hoye of the marshals service’s Nevada district.
