CCSD employee arrested in connection with theft of 40 school iPads

An information technology employee with the Clark County School District was arrested Monday in connection with the theft of 40 iPads from a North Las Vegas school, CCSD police said Wednesday.

Police arrested Gordon Goujon, who has been a CCSD employee for about two-and-a-half years, after Scott Elementary School in North Las Vegas reported the iPads missing.

Goujon was responsible for taking the 40 computer tablets from Scott Elementary School to Watson Elementary School, less than two miles away, on Dec. 9, said CCSD police Sgt. Mitch Maciszak.

Watson Elementary staff reported to Scott Elementary staff that the iPads were never delivered, and Scott Elementary called police to report the devices missing, Maciszak said.

School district police traced the iPads' serial numbers and discovered that Goujon and his brother, Pierre Goujon, had pawned three iPads on Friday at a local pawn shop, police said. Video surveillance showed both men at the pawn shop.

Police arrested both brothers Monday at their residence, Maciszak said.

Gordon Goujon told police he gave the iPads to "a man he believed worked for CCSD," who told him he could keep three of the devices, Maciszak said.

"He's been charged with the theft of all 40," Maciszak said. The remaining 37 iPads were not found at the Goujons' home, and police are still looking for them, he said.

Gordon Goujon is "absent without authorized leave," according to school district spokeswoman Melinda Malone. He will be suspended without pay when he is released from jail, she said.
