Central valley barricade ends peacefully; 1 man in custody

The man involved in an hours-long central valley barricade Monday afternoon was taken into custody, according to Las Vegas police.

Officers were first called at 12:25 p.m. on reports of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 1300 block of Robin Street, near Rancho Drive and Washington Avenue, Metro spokesman Officer Jesse Roybal said.

Police evacuated neighboring homes while they negotiated with 37-year-old Patrick Zozaya, whom they believed was suicidal and possibly armed, Metro said Monday afternoon.

Zozaya had made suicidal comments and refused to come out of the house, Roybal said.

SWAT negotiators responded to the home at 2:15 p.m., Roybal said.

Zozaya was taken into custody without incident about 3:30 p.m., Metro spokesman Officer Laura Meltzer said. He faces one count each domestic-related battery, obstructing an officer and an outstanding warrant.
