Child nearly drowns in northwest Las Vegas pool

A 3-year-old nearly drowned in a northwest valley pool Tuesday night.

The child was found unresponsive about 8:15 p.m. in a pool at 6560 Wilma Ave., just north of the Best In The West shopping center, said Metropolitan Police Department Lt. John Liberty.

The unconscious but breathing child was rushed to University Medical Center where Liberty said as of 9:40 p.m. the child was under observation and expected to survive.

It’s unclear if anyone was attending to the child at the time of the incident, and it’s unknown if anyone in care of the child will be facing charges.
