Clark County coroner: Man struck by vehicle in July has died

A man who was in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in July near downtown Las Vegas has died, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.

Anthony Rotondo, 64, was crossing Bonnevile Avenue when he was struck by a 2002 Lincoln Town Car driven by Philip Hatzenpiller, according to a press release from Las Vegas police. Rotondo died in late October at University Medical Center, where he was taken after he was hit.

Rotondo was initially knocked onto the hood of the Lincoln, then thrown onto the road, witnesses at the scene said. He was transported to UMC in critical condition.

The Clark County coroner’s office said Rotondo died on Oct. 24 from blunt head trauma from the collision.

Hatzenpiller, 60, and his passenger, Rosalyn Carroll, 53, were uninjured, police said.

No charges have been filed. Police say the crash remains under investigation.

This is the 71st fatal traffic-related death in Las Vegas police’s jurisdiction this year.
