Coroner ID’s moped rider killed in collision

The moped rider who died Sunday morning after being struck by a car near East Flamingo and Pecos roads, has been identified Monday by the Clark County coroner.

Anthony John Maida, 37 was riding a 2014 TaoTao Scooter traveling east on Flamingo Road about 8 a.m., when the front of the a 2005 Hyundai Sonata hit the back of his scooter. Maida was ejected 600 feet from the scooter, the release said.

Maida was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

The Hyundai Sonata left the scene without stopping and was found abandoned in a nearby residential area soon after the crash by area patrol officers, the release said.
