Coroner IDs pedestrian killed by car near UNLV

The pedestrian who was struck and killed near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Tuesday night has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.
He is 66-year-old Christopher Ryan, the coroner’s office said. Ryan was a Las Vegas resident, according to police.
Ryan was crossing North Swenson Street near East Royal Crest Circle, north of Twain Avenue, outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the 26-year-old driver of a 1996 Honda Civic at 8:51 p.m., Metro said.
The driver stopped his vehicle and stayed to talk to police. He was not cited.
Ryan was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by Metro’s Accident Investigation Section. This is the 10th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2015.
