Decatur near Washington reopens partly after water main break

Las Vegas police are urging commuters to avoid Decatur Boulevard after a Thursday morning water main break.

Decatur was shut down in both directions just after 6 a.m. between Washington Avenue and Bonanza Road while the Las Vegas Valley Water District worked to stop the leak.

Northbound traffic was re-opened by 10:45 a.m., but all southbound traffic lanes were closed while the water districted waited for utility vehicles to arrive and begin make repairs, according to water district spokesman Corey Enus.

Crews with the water district have isolated the broken pipe, but there is no word on how long digging and repairs will take.
