Dining Pick of the Week: A Slice of Chicago

A Slice of Chicago

Inside the Inn Zone, 2990 St. Rose Parkway at South Eastern Avenue; 702-567-0663

Chicago deep-dish pizza takes time to prepare, and the deep dish here takes up to 50 minutes. This is real Chicago. Pies (thin, regular, deep dish) are made from an original family recipe and include all the traditional toppings. Among the “designer” pizzas are vegetarian, chicken Alfredo, BLT, Meat Lovers and Deluxe with sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onion. Italian dinners, served with garlic bread and salad, include spaghetti or mostaccioli with meat sauce, fettuccini Alfredo and homemade lasagna with six cheeses. Skyscraper Fries are a meal by themselves with names such as Chicago (sliced beef, hot or sweet peppers, garlic, mozzarella), Nacho (ground beef, jalapenos, onions, cheddar cheese) and Garlic. Popular sandwiches are Chicago Italian beef, chicken Parmesan, Chicago hot dog, liver sausage sub, Big Carol’s meatball and half-pound hamburgers with hometown names such as Cubs, Bears, Bulls (bacon, grilled onions, cheddar, barbecue sauce) and White Sox (mushrooms, Swiss). Breakfast is served throughout the day, starring the Monster of Midway: eggs, pancakes, bacon or sausage, hash browns and toast. Pizzas start at $9.75. A Slice of Chicago is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
