Girl, 5, seriously injured in hit-and-run west valley crash

Las Vegas police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who seriously hurt a 5-year-old girl Friday afternoon in the west valley.

It happened about 3:30 p.m. on South Waterview Drive, north of West Gentle Rain Way, close to the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Fort Apache Road.

A boy and a girl were crossing the street when the girl was hit by a vehicle, which was described as possibly being a red Chevrolet Aveo, police said. A young woman stopped the Aveo and exited, but later took off without filing a report.

The extent of the girl's injuries were only described as being serious.
