Gunman killed by police at Henderson hotel identified

A gunman shot and killed by police when he “engaged” them at a Henderson hotel Saturday morning has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

He was Bryan David Bauer, 36, of Las Vegas, the coroner’s office said.

Henderson police on Sunday had no further information on the case because it’s an open investigation, spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said. It could be weeks before new details emerge.

Bauer was firing multiple shots from his hotel room at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, 1340 W. Warm Springs Road, near Stephanie Street, when police were called about 9:15 a.m., spokeswoman Kathleen Richards told the Review-Journal Saturday.

As police approached Bauer’s room on the first floor of the hotel, he emerged, “engaged with officers” and was shot, Richards said. It was unclear if he was firing his weapon when he was shot.

Bauer died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. No one else was injured, Richards said.
