Henderson police investigate suspicious package

A pipe bomb was discovered along a desert stretch of Eastgate Road, near Auto Show Drive, on Monday, Henderson police said.

Police received a call about noon from a passerby who saw a suspicious package on Eastgate, spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.

The package turned out to be a pipe bomb and was detonated by Metro’s ARMOR unit about 3 hours later. No one was injured.

No arrests were made, but police are continuing their investigation, Richards said.

People have nothing to worry about, Richards said. “It was very random,” she said.

The area where the pipe bomb was placed was described as desert-like and not populated, she said.
