Henderson police seeking driver in hit-and-run fatality

Henderson police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a driver who hit and killed a bicyclist Saturday and then drove away.

About 2 p.m. a bicyclist, described by police as a man in his 40s, was southbound on Eastern Avenue in the right lane, near Evansville Avenue, when he was struck by a car that switched into the right lane. The driver of the car then left the scene.

Police said the driver of a blue 1990s model of a Honda or Acura sedan with a Nevada license plate 871-LZH was speeding. The driver is described only as a man wearing a flat-brimmed baseball cap. Police said the car has a smashed windshield and damage to its hood. It was last seen on Eastern near Grand Hills Drive.

The bicyclist died at St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus. His name will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office once next of kin has been notified.

This was Henderson’s 12 traffic-related fatality for 2014.
