Las Vegas morning update for Friday, September 1st — VIDEO

Here are your Friday morning headlines:

1. The man accused in the one-punch death of a tourist in April, has been ordered to stand trial by a judge. 27-year-old James Beach will stand trial for murder and intimidating a witness. Beach’s lawyer says he will plead not guilty on the murder charge, and his team plans to refute the medical evidence on how tourist Luis Campos died. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.

2. An underground flood-control channel could delay the construction of the Raiders stadium here in Las Vegas. The channel runs through the property, and will have to be relocated. The relocation has to be approved by the Army Corps of Engineers, but officials fear the decision won’t be made before construction is planned to begin in November.

3. Clark County’s longest stretch this year without a homicide has ended, after a man accidentally shot and killed his grandmother. A 19-year-old man was trying to clear a handgun, when a round was fired and hit his sleeping grandmother in the other room. She was taken to UMC, where she later died. This is the first homicide to occur since Aug. 15.
