Latino college fair planned at UNLV

UNLV students will host an education fair on Saturday aimed at enrolling more Latino students across Nevada campuses.

“While there are some sources of support on campus, recent high school grads or nontraditional students don’t necessarily have immediate access and knowledge of these entities,” professor Anita Tijerina Revilla said in an email. “This fair gives students the opportunity to learn about enrollment, financial aid and other resources on campus in a safe and accessible environment.”

The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas student union.

The Coalition for the Advancement of Undocumented Students’ Education is the primary event organizer.

There will be a presentation regarding Latinos and education in Nevada, followed by three panel discussions: admissions process, financial aid and advisement. The event will also offer advice to students in the country illegally on how to attend college.
