Maintenance work blocking traffic on the Strip near The Venetian

Planned maintenance work that blocked northbound lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard near The Venetian is tying up traffic, the Regional Transportation Commission said.
RTC Spokesman Jim Neubert said Wednesday afternoon that maintenance workers had been there since morning, when a crane carrying an unspecified object hovered over The Venetian. It was not immediately clear what work was being done or how long sections of the road would be blocked.
Portions of Las Vegas Boulevard between Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. and The Venetian, both between Flamingo and Spring Mountain roads, are blocked off. Drivers should take alternate routes.
