Police have arrested a man in Michigan in connection with a North Las Vegas homicide.
Tyrus Kemp, 35, was taken into custody Thursday in Detroit, according to North Las Vegas police. He faces a charge of murder with a deadly weapon, North Las Vegas police said in a release Friday.
On the afternoon of Jan. 28, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3300 block of Civic Center Drive, near the intersection with Cheyenne Avenue. Police said an altercation turned into a shooting that ended in the death of 18-year-old Kishawn Washington. Washington was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Kemp is awaiting extradition to return to Las Vegas, the release said.
