Man dies in Tuesday night crash on Interstate 15, highway patrol says

A man died in a crash on Interstate 15 Tuesday night, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

About 8:10 p.m., a white Honda CRV was travelling northbound on Interstate 15, north of mile marker 67, and entered the dirt median, Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Jason Buratczuk said.

The vehicle’s driver, identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as 52-year-old Henderson resident Bruce Neal Sparks, then overcorrected, causing the Honda to enter the right dirt shoulder. The vehicle rotated before rolling over, the highway patrol said.

Sparks appeared to have been wearing his seat belt before but was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, Buratczuk said.

Buratczuk said speed could be a factor in the crash, and impairment is under investigation. The Clark County coroner’s office said Sparks’ died of blunt force motor vehicle trauma and ruled his death an accident.

This is the Nevada Highway Patrol southern command’s 39th fatal crash, resulting in 42 fatalities for 2016, the Highway Patrol said in a statement.
