Man indicted for fatally shooting 21-year-old 10 times

A Clark County grand jury indicted a man who pointed a gun at an 11-year-old girl and then shot and killed 21-year-old man inside a Las Vegas apartment, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Virgil Woods kicked in the door of the apartment in the 4600 block of Amerleigh Lane, near Las Vegas Valley Drive, looking for Joshua Rudy Oglesby on Nov. 9, prosecutor Nick Portz said. With three children inside ages 1, 5 and 11, Woods walked “systematically” from room to room, pointing the gun at several people, including the 11-year-old, Portz said.

When he encountered Oglesby, Woods shot him 10 times, including twice in the face, according to Portz.

Woods fled but was arrested less than two weeks later. He is being held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center.

Woods, 45, faces charges of murder, assault, burglary while possessing a firearm and home invasion.
