Man shot and killed in downtown early Saturday ID’d

The man shot and killed in downtown Las Vegas early Saturday has been identified by the Clark County coroner.

Jesse Galvez Valle, 38, died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the coroner's office.

Homicide investigators indicated that Valle was walking to an apartment in the area of North 10th Street near Maryland Parkway and Wilson Avenue when he was shot.

Metro received calls of a single, very loud gunshot about 6:50 a.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, officers discovered Valle face down near the apartments.

Medical personnel pronounced Valle dead at the scene, according to police.

Police believe he was shot with a high caliber gun because the gunshot was so loud.

Witnesses reported seeing a gray Toyota or Nissan pickup truck speeding away from the area about a minute after the shot was heard, police said.

As of Monday afternoon, Metro did not return a call to determine if anyone has been taken into custody in this case.
