Man struck, killed as he walks 4-year-old across Cheyenne Avenue

A man was killed and a boy was injured during a Sunday night auto-pedestrian crash near Cheyenne Avenue and Civic Center Drive, North Las Vegas police said.

The red car that hit them fled the scene, police spokesman officer Steven Wiese said.

First responders were called near the East Cheyenne and Mary Dee avenues intersection, just east of Civic Center Drive, about 5:20 p.m., Wiese said.

A 64-year-old man and a 4-year-old boy were not on a crosswalk when they were walking Cheyenne and struck by a red car, which fled the scene after the crash.

The man died at University Medical Center and the boy suffered minor injuries, Wiese said.

Police were looking for what was only described to them as red car.

Eastbound Cheyenne in the area was expected to be closed for hours, Wiese said.
