The Clark County coroner has identified a man who police said died Friday night after being struck by a vehicle in the downtown area.
James Sgro, 71, was found lying in the road by firefighters near Bonneville Avenue and 8th Street sometime before 10 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, Metro Lt. CJ Jenkins said, the firefighters discovered Sgro had suffered “injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.”
Jenkins said Sgro was taken to University Medical Center, where he died.
The vehicle did not remain on the scene and no witnesses to the incident have been found, police said.
