Man wanted in woman’s shooting death arrested

A man wanted in connection with a Saturday morning shooting that left a woman dead and another has been arrested, Las Vegas police said Friday.

Carim Cruz of Las Vegas was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday and faces charges that include murder, attempted murder and assault, police said.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, Las Vegas police responded to a shooting in a restaurant parking lot in the 9700 block of Flamingo Road, police said.

When police arrived they found two women with gunshot wounds. Deanna Serrano, 33, of Las Vegas, died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Clark County coroner. The other woman was taken to University Medical Center, police said.

An initial investigation indicated that Cruz was involved in an argument with several people from a large gathering in a restaurant. The confrontation turned physical in the parking lot, police said.

After the fight, Cruz drove by the group of people and fired multiple rounds, police said.

He was arrested Thursday morning in the 500 block of South Fourth Street, police said.

Cruz was considered armed and dangerous before his arrest, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.
