Man who threatened to jump from Caesars Palace parking garage taken into custody, hospitalized

A man who threatened to jump from a Caesars Palace parking garage for about three hours Tuesday night was taken into custody without incident, Las Vegas police said.

The man called police himself and said "he was going to jump off the hotel," said Metro Lt. David Gordon, adding that the man "sounded upset."

Officers responded to the 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South hotel-casino just after 6:30 p.m., where they found the man sitting on the ledge of the parking garage's eighth floor.

Members of Metro's Crisis Negotiation Team worked with the man, who came down from the ledge and was hospitalized just before 10 p.m.

Both the parking garage and Frank Sinatra Drive, which runs behind the hotel-casino, were closed during the incident but were opened by 11 p.m., Metro said.
