Metro looking for gunman in Monday night slaying

A man was shot dead Monday night in an apartment complex near the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and Torrey Pines Road, according to Las Vegas police.

Investigators are seeking the gunman.

Officers were called to Portofino Villas Apartment Homes, in the 6300 block of Lake Mead, about 9:30 p.m. after multiple reports of gunfire, police said Tuesday in a news release.

An initial investigation determined that the shooting followed a fight between at least two men, police said. The slain man was found lying on the ground in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Two people were seen running from the parking lot, police said. The shooter was described by police as being a young black man between the ages of 16 and 20 years old. He has a thin build and wore a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and white and black shoes.

Clark County coroner's office investigators will identify the dead man.

This was Metro's 103rd homicide investigation of 2015.
