Metro says man has died in south Las Vegas barricade situation

A barricade that led Las Vegas police to evacuate a south valley neighborhood has ended, according to Metro.

The man who locked himself in a house in the 600 block of Ribbon Grass Avenue has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Metro spokeswoman officer Laura Meltzer said about 9:45 a.m. Monday.

Homes in the area, near the intersection of Pyle Avenue and Bermuda Road about three miles west of Las Vegas Boulevard, were evacuated as a "precaution," Meltzer said. There were traffic restrictions at Pyle.

A Metro SWAT crew also responded, Meltzer said, after police got a call about a "suicidal" person.

Nearby Silverstri Middle School was not affected, Meltzer said.

The man who died will be identified by the Clark County coroner's office.
