Motorcyclist dies after collision with semi on Las Vegas Strip

Metro is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a semitrailer on Las Vegas Boulevard near Mandalay Bay on Sunday night.

The collision happened about 9:15 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Four Seasons Drive, police said.

Two flagmen signaled southbound traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard to stop and allow the semitruck to back into a driveway on the west side of the street, according to a press release Monday.

A large group of motorcycles did not yield to the flagmen. A 21-year-old male driver of a Suzuki motorcycle who was in the group lost control and overturned, police said. The motorcycle slid into the side of the truck and the driver slid underneath the stationary vehicle.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The man will be identified by the Clark County coroner's office.
