December 5, 2015 - 11:23 pm
A Henderson motorcyclist and a 7-year-old Las Vegas girl suffered serious injuries in a collision with an SUV on Saturday afternoon on Buffalo Drive near the 215 Beltway, Las Vegas police said.
The crash happened about 4:39 p.m. Saturday at Buffalo and Badura Avenue, just north of the 215, police said.
Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate the collision occurred when the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was headed north on Buffalo in the left-turn lane to westbound Badura Avenue, began turning in front of a motorcycle that was traveling south on Buffalo Drive in the left travel lane, north of Badura Avenue, police said in a statement.
The 2004 Honda CBR600 motorcycle hit the right side of the Jeep, causing the motorcycle operator, 29-year-old Daniel Bray of Henderson, to be thrown through the right rear, passenger window, striking the girl.
Following the accident, investigators shut down Buffalo near the 215 for several hours, according to police.
Both the Honda operator and the female juvenile were taken to UMC Trauma with serious injuries, but further information on their injuries was not immediately available. The driver of the SUV, Glenn LaCuesta, 37, of Las Vegas, suffered minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigations Section.
