One critical after two vehicle crash

A person was hospitalized with a critical head injury and a north valley intersection was shut down after a Tuesday night two-vehicle crash.

Las Vegas police responded just after 6:30 p.m. to the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Rancho Drive where two pick-up trucks collided and one veered into a pole, according to Metro spokesman Lt. Mark Reddon.

The driver who struck the pole was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, Reddon said. Because of the severity of the driver’s head injury, Metro’s fatal detail responded to investigate, Reddon said about 8:30 p.m.

Reddon said police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
