June 5, 2016 - 8:48 pm
A crash in the northwest valley Sunday afternoon left a 20-year-old Las Vegas man dead and sent two people to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries, police said.
Just after 3:40 p.m., a 2003 Cadillac Seville driven by a 20-year-old Las Vegas resident crashed into a 1996 Acura Integra at the intersection of West Craig Road and North El Capitan Way, police said. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate that the Cadillac failed to yield at the stop sign.
Police said both vehicles traveled north after the crash and the Cadillac overturned. The driver of the Cadillac was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Acura driver, 21-year-old Quintin Simmons of Las Vegas, and his passenger, Kayla Carducci, 20, also of Las Vegas, were taken to University Medical Center, police said.
Additionally, a small dog riding in the Cadillac died as a result of the collision, police said.
The 20-year-old man’s death is the 48th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
The crash is still under investigation.
