One person burned in house fire Friday morning

One person was hospitalized with burns and a cat was found dead after an east valley house fire early Friday morning, officials say.

Large amounts of smoke and flames were seen about 4:30 a.m. coming from the home, 3728 Hilo Ave., near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Sandhill Road, the Clark County fire department said in a release.

Crews were able to extinguish the blaze in under 20 minutes, despite poor visibility from thick smoke inside, the release said.

The person who suffered burn injuries was taken to University Medical Center.

Damages and cost have not yet been determined.
