Pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver

A pedestrian is dead and Las Vegas police are looking for the driver and the white SUV that hit her Friday night in the east valley.

The vehicle is described as possibly a late-model Ford Explorer, and Metro Sgt. Richard Strader said it should have substantial front-end and windshield damage.

First responders were called to the southbound lanes of the 1400 block of Nellis Boulevard at about 5:30 p.m., police said. Southbound Nellis was shut down for several hours from Charleston Boulevard to Wyoming Avenue during the investigation.

The pedestrian's age wasn't immediately available.
