Pedestrian struck, killed in southeast Las Vegas Valley
January 17, 2015 - 10:36 pm
A man died after being struck by a car in the southeast valley Saturday night, Las Vegas police said.
The man, who police believe was in his 30s, was crossing the street in a crosswalk at the Nellis Boulevard and Sun Valley Drive intersection about 5:33 p.m. when he was hit by a 2012 Chevorolet Silverado traveling southbound. The vehicle was driven by 93-year-old Inez Ramirez of Las Vegas.
The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced dead after arrival, police said.
Alcohol or speed do not appear to be a factor in the death, Metro spokesman Lt. Ken Romane said. Romane did not specify whether Ramirez was arrested, but said such a violation typically results in a misdemeanor traffic citation.
The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the man after notifying next of kin.
