Police looking for man linked to dead woman

Las Vegas police are seeking the public’s help identifying a man connected to a woman who was found dead near an east valley elementary school on Saturday.

Police say the woman, 34-year-old Maricela Faurrieta, went out Friday night with a man described as her boyfriend. Police released a photograph of the two together, but they do not know who or where the man is.

Detectives want information about the identity and location of the man, as well as information about who may have taken the photo. Information about the whereabouts of the couple on the evening of July 18 into the early morning hours of July 19, when she was found dead.

A passerby found Faurrieta on the roadway near Brookman Elementary School suffering unknown trauma, said Lt. Ray Steiber of Metro’s homicide unit. When officers arrived at 5:47 a.m. in the 1200 block of Fairchild Street, she was dead.

Authorities believe the woman might have been killed elsewhere and moved.

This is the 71st homicide investigated by Metro in 2014.
