Police need help finding man from April homicide

Las Vegas police on Friday were seeking the public’s help in finding a man they say is connected to an April homicide.

Detectives want to question Ivory Hawkins, 63, police said in a news release.

Metro officers called to a shooting in the 200 block of South 6th Street the night of April 10 found the body of Derek Cooper Jr., 28. He had been shot multiple times and died from a chest wound, the Clark County coroner’s office said.

A preliminary investigation determined that Cooper argued with two men shortly before the shooting, police said. It wasn’t immediately clear if Hawkins was one of them.

Hawkins stands about 5-feet-7 inches, police said. He weighs about 150 pounds and has grey hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call Metro’s homicide division at 702-828-3521 or email homicide@lvmpd.com.
