Rain, snow coming to Las Vegas, Spring Mountains
October 3, 2015 - 6:51 pm
Mount Charleston is expected to see its first snow of the season Sunday.
The National Weather Service issued a 48-hour winter weather advisory for elevations above 8,500 feet in the Spring Mountains beginning at 5 a.m. and ending Tuesday.
The valley is going to see a significant cooldown, too.
Sunday will be cooler and cloudier with a 30 percent to 40 percent chance of showers in the morning and highs reaching 82 in the afternoon. The chance of rain will increase to about 60 percent in the afternoon, before temperatures dip to 66 degrees at night, meteorologist Chris Outler said.
Some Las Vegas neighborhoods could see up to three-quarters of an inch of rain.
There's a "good bet" it will be stormy on Monday, too, Outler said. The weather service forecasts a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms all day, and afternoon highs about 76 degrees.
Tuesday will likely be drier and temperatures are expected to climb back into the 90s by Thursday and Friday, Outler said.
