A man slept in the same room with the body of the woman he told Las Vegas police he killed, according to an arrest report released Thursday.
Tobey Gibeson, 40, told police it started when his female roommate slapped him the night of April 17.
He reacted and punched her, according to the report, which dropped her to the floor. He hit her over the head with a whiskey bottle, hit her in the in the face and then “stomped her on the face until she was dead.”
Gibeson changed his clothes when he noticed he had blood on them, the report said, and went drinking at the nearby Eastside Cannery Casino. He came back to the apartment four hours later and touched the woman’s arm, he she felt cold, he told police in the report. That’s when he knew she was dead.
So he wrapped her in the sheet he pulled off an air mattress, the report said, and went to sleep.
Gibeson told police the body began to smell, so he cut up the air mattress, wrapped the body in it, and moved it to the living room.
He cried for two days, he told police in the report, and decided to call police. He took a bus then walked to the pay phone in front of Metro’s headquarters, 400 S. Martin Luther King Blvd., and called 911 to admit what he had done.
Gibeson claimed to be a 12-year military veteran with four PHD degrees, according to the report. He also told officers that he has been hearing voices for the past two years and that his blood was actually pink, not red.
He was arrested Wednesday on one count of open murder.
The dead woman has not been identified. .
