Same-sex marriage ruling amps up Las Vegas Pride festivities

There ain't no party like a gay-pride party.

The Las Vegas Valley can expect the 32nd annual Pride Night Parade to be more celebratory than ever following the recent landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marriage.

"It will make it a lot more positive," Las Vegas Pride President Jorge Solorio said this week. "People are going to be happier and more open about themselves."

Solorio said he's most excited to see different Las Vegas companies try to out-shine each other at the parade.

"I can't wait to see what they bring this year," he said.

Solorio also said Saturday's outdoor festival is going to be a great event for the whole family.

"If you want to come, just be ready to have a good time," he said.

While the Southern Nevada Association of Pride, Inc. — the group responsible for Las Vegas Pride festivities — held its first official event weeks ago, Thursday is when the party really heats up.

Share Nightclub, 3636 Wynn Road, is holding official pride parties Thursday and Saturday night. A staple for the Las Vegas LGBT community, the club is expecting some of the largest crowds of the year this weekend.

"It's going to be a fun, over-the-top celebration," club host and promoter Jason Dinant, known throughout the U.S. as J.Son of NakedBoyNews.com, said of Saturday night's post-festival party.

The club will be opening its back patio Saturday to accommodate the extra-large crowd, and Dinant said there will be special guest DJs, local dance crews and a dunk tank for attendees to get the go-go boys wet.

Dinant said he is also looking forward to Sunday's LGBT pool party at the Luxor.

"It's one of the busiest days of the summer," he said. "It's a great time to celebrate diversity. Everyone is welcome."
