Ownership of KTNV-TV, Channel 13 is changing under a merger announced Wednesday by E.W. Scripps Co. and Journal Communications.
The deal will pool and separate the companies’ broadcast and print endeavors into two companies, Journal Communications said.
Under the deal, Scripps acquires Journal Communications’ 14 television and 35 radio stations, including Las Vegas’ Channel 13, Journal Communications said.
This would increase Scripps’ broadcast properties as it would own 35 TV affiliates including the Las Vegas station.
Journal Communications keeps its flagship publication, The Milwaukee Sentinel, and takes over Scripps’ 14 newspapers, Journal Communications said. The new company will be called Journal Media Group.
Scripps, based in Cincinnati, would employ 4,000 and is expected to generate $800 million a year in revenue. Journal Media Group will be based in Milwaukee, employ about 3,600 and would generate about $500 million, Journal Communications said.
The deal is expected to close in 2015, Journal Communications said.
