Serious northwest valley crash closes intersection

A northwest valley intersection was closed Thursday evening after a car crash involving six people.

Police and medical units responded to Durango Drive and Alexander Road just after 7:30 p.m.

The crash involved a Toyota Corolla and a Dodge Neon.

One vehicle, though it was unclear which one, had four occupants and one of them was thrown from the car in the crash. The injuries of those occupants range from serious to critical, Lt. John Liberty said, and the person thrown from the vehicle had less serious injuries than some.

One person was taken to University Medical Center by helicopter.

The other car had two occupants with serious injuries.

As of 9 p.m., police had not yet determined whose fault the crash was but said the intersection would remain closed for several hours.
